Compatibility of vegetable fibers with Portland cement and its relationship with the physical properties AGRIAMBI
Marques,Maria L.; Luzardo,Francisco H. M.; Velasco,Fermin G.; González,Luis Nieto; Silva,Everton J. da; Lima,Wellington G. de.
ABSTRACT The use of vegetable fiber residue in cementitious matrices can be a sustainable technological alternative; however, it still has problems related to the chemical compatibility between the cement and the fibers. The present study evaluated the compatibility of vegetable fibers with cement using three methods of calculation and determined certain physical properties of the fibers and the curve of the temporal evolution of temperature for each composite. The surfaces of the composites were evaluated through atomic force microscope images and the results showed that the pretreatment of fiber washing significantly favors the compatibility with cement for fibers of eucalyptus, coconut and cocoa, with no influence for water hyacinth fiber. Bivariate...

Estimating moisture absorption kinetics of beans during soaking using mathematical models CIGR Journal
Shafaei, Seyed Mojtaba; Masoumi, Amin Allah.
In this paper, fourteen standard models were used to estimate the moisture ratio of three varieties of bean in Iran (Talash, Sadri and Mahali Khomein).  The experiments were carried out using distilled water at three temperatures (5°C, 25°C and 45°C) and three replicates.  The standard models of water absorption were fitted to the experimental data.  To evaluate the models, three parameters: coefficient of determination (R2), chi-square (2) and root mean square error (RMSE) were used.  The appropriate model was chosen based on maximum value of coefficient of determination and minimum value of chi-square and root mean square error.  The effective moisture diffusivity coefficient of three verities in each temperature was estimated by Fick’s equation.  The...

Etude preliminaire des equilibres de distribution de l'eau et des ions au cours de l'ovogenese de Solea solea ArchiMer
Gallis, J; Lemenn, F; Lebrun, A; Nunez, R.
During oogenesis of Solea solea L., gonadal changes in water, Na super(+) and K super(+) ions seem to be related to yolk protein incorporation by the oocyte. The decrease in oocyte water accumulation, associated with an increase in pericellular water accumluation and a decrease in K super(+) concentration occurs when vitellogenin enters the oocyte. Na super(+) concentration decreases in the oocyte at the end of the exogenous vitellogenesis when the first stages of the oocyte maturation take place. Water accumulation in the pericellular space during vitellogenesis allows the rapid transfer of water from this compartment into the oocyte during the terminal phase of maturation. However the total amount of gonadal water remains stable.

Fluid therapy in large animais - Part II: amount and administration routes MV&Z
Dearo, Antônio Cézar de Oliveira; Reichmann, Peter.
The amount, administration routes and fluid flow rates are as important as the indications of fluid therapy and which fluid to use. Considering that fluid therapy is often maintained for long periods in many clinical situations, the use of intravenous catheters and large animal IV administration sets reduce the need for continuous supervision.

Humic substances, purified MAP and hydrogel in the development and survival of Eucalyptus urograndis AGRIAMBI
Silva,Rodrigo J. da; Ferreira Junior,José M.; Silva,Flavia A.; Santos,Antonio C. M. dos; Lima,Saulo de O.; Silva,Rubens R. da.
ABSTRACT The development and survival of Eucalyptus urograndis plants may be influenced by products based on humic fractions of the organic matter, purified MAP and soil conditioners, such as hydrogel. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the commercial products Fertiactyl®, based on humic substances, purified MAP and hydrogel on the post-planting development and survival of Eucalyptus urograndis. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, with 25 treatments and four replicates, each of which consisted of 6 plants. The immersion of the tubes in solution with doses of Fertiactyl® and purified MAP promoted the increase in the development and survival of the plants. In the preparation of the hydrogel, the use of solution...

Industrial processing of canned beans Ciência Rural
Schoeninger,Vanderleia; Coelho,Silvia Renata Machado; Bassinello,Priscila Zaczuk.
ABSTRACT: Beans are popular as a protein-filled legume of high nutritional value, being one of the most planted species in the world. However, recent years have seen a decrease in the consumption of beans, owing to the time necessary to cook it domestically. Thus, it is being replaced in people’s diets by other foods. An alternative preparation that supplies modern consumers’ demands is industrially processed beans. This article aimed to provide a literature review on the processing of canned beans. Few recent studies have been performed in Brazil on this subject, as most studies have focused instead on the technological quality of dry bean grains processing. In this article industrial processing concepts and features, production unit operations, and...

MATHEMATICAL MODELING FOR DETERMINATION OF THE MAXIMUM MASS TRANSFER CAPACITY OF COWPEA BEANS REA
Franco Junior,Hélio C.; Morais,Romulo A.; Silva,Warley G. da; Oliveira,Maria O. S.; Martins,Glêndara A. de S..
ABSTRACT Cowpea beans are of great socioeconomic expression for the rural population in North and Northeastern Brazil. This legume is rich in essential nutrients and exhibits great resistance to water stress. However, for grain processing, it is fundamental to study legume behavior during the hydration process. This study aims to evaluate the mass transfer of different cowpea beans via mathematical modeling to determine the viability of hydration for commercialization as a canned product. Physical and chemical analyses of lipids and moisture were performed. The soaking process was performed in a water bath with distilled water at 30, 40, and 50 °C. The mathematical model of Peleg presented satisfactory adjustments, with R2 values ranging between 99.78% and...

Modifications ultrastructurales du chorion dans les kystes prehumidifies d'Artemia. ArchiMer
Ultrastructural changes of the chorion were studied in prehydrated Artemia cysts. After incubation for 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours, in hygrostats (under controlled relative humidity, that range from 19% to 99%), the authors observed in cysts that were maintained (for at least 48 h in 99% of relative humidity, some chorionic alveoli containing electron dense structures. They presume that ions and/or molecules migrate during prehydration from inside the cyst to the alveolar layer.

Physiological quality and imbibitions of soybean seeds with contrasting coats Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Bahry,Carlos André; Perboni,Anelise Tessari; Nardino,Maicon; Zimmer,Paulo Dejalma.
ABSTRACT The attributes that confer seed quality can largely be considered dependent on the coat. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality and hydration pattern of the seeds of four contrasting soybean genotypes for the coats characteristics; BMX Potência RR and CD 202 with yellow coats and IAC and TP with black coats. The first stage of the study consisted of seed multiplication in the 2012/2013 harvest. After storage for five months at a temperature of 17 ºC and a relative humidity of 50%, the seeds were subjected to the following tests: germination, first count and seedling height, with and without immersion of the seeds, emergence in soil, emergence speed and germination index; electrical conductivity; thousand weight seeds and imbibitions of...
